Go behind the scenes as Royal opera House open their theatre to a select group of musicians, artists and performers in the first live concerts since closing its doors to the public on 17 March. This first concert in the Live from Covent Garden series is hosted by the BBC’s Anita Rani and the Royal Opera House’s Director of Music, Antonio Pappano. This first concert includes work from Benjamin Britten and George Frideric Handel, as well as accompanying work from George Butterworth and Turnage, performed by stars including Louise Alder, Toby Spence and Gerald Finley. It also features an intimate world premiere by Wayne McGregor, Resident Choreographer of The Royal Ballet starring Francesca Hayward and Cesar Corrales. Showcasing the best of The Royal Opera and The Royal Ballet companies, and curated by Director of Music, Antonio Pappano, Director of The Royal Ballet Kevin O’Hare and Director of Opera Oliver Mears, the ROH is proud to present some of the world’s finest talent in opera, alongside intimate performances from a select number of dancers from The Royal Ballet.
