A major poet of the twentieth century, Seamus Heaney lived life with a strong sense of social and cultural responsibility. Set against the backdrop of the Northern Irish Troubles, Heaney’s poetry tapped into a humanity which transcended political and cultural divides and found its way into the hearts of readers across the world.
