In early March, South African group Ladysmith Black Mambazo was en route to the U.S. when the coronavirus outbreak forced them to cancel many performance dates. But they kept one. The group performed an entire concert at UCLA in an empty Royce Hall to an audience of three camera operators, a few staff and a modest crew. Now, KCRW — in partnership with the Center for the Art of performance at UCLA (CAP UCLA) — debuts that intimate concert for the first time, bringing the joyful music of South Africa to the world.
